Ash to Ash: Dust to Dust
This piece was inspired by the victims of Pompeii. The victims of Mount Vesuvius were found frozen in actions of very tender expressions, some reaching for their loved ones. A single moment was captured by the eruption, and that was exactly what I wanted to play on.

I captured the moment Man and Woman were created in the story of Genesis. Molded from concrete, they are embracing one another in their first meeting. The very moment Man and Woman take a breath, they are solidified in rock. It is a play on the phrase "Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust." From the earth man was formed, and to the earth man will return, but that tender moment of meeting another for the first time is solidified in history. It is our relationships that matter the most in life. Though we are born, live and die, the people we love make our lives beautiful.
